    TODAY Lt. Rich Pula Returns Home  Staging 10:00am - 10:30am - Arrival 11:00am Please come and support Lt. Pula's family as he returns home to 3290 Field Street in Wheat Ridge. Members are requested to be at the Pula residence between 10:00am and 10:30am to prepare for his arrival at approximately 11:00 am.

    Honor Watch for Lieutenant Richard Pula
    03/01/21 - Denver Firefighters Local 858
    Brother and Sisters,  Honor Watch is a longstanding and solemn tradition for line-of-duty deaths in the fire service. At least two other firefighters will remain with the fallen firefighter's body around the clock on "honor watch" in the days leading up to the funeral. Firefighters are always together, and we never leave anyone behind.

    It is with great sadness we inform you of the passing of Retired Lieutenant Rich Pula. Rich was born on December 1, 1970 and was hired on August 16, 2002. He was promoted to Lieutenant in October of 2010 and retired in July 2018. Rich was diagnosed with Cancer in 2015. Rich passed away this morning with family and friends at his bed side.

    Brothers and Sisters, Our Brother Rich Pula’s health has drastically declined. He spent the last 2 weeks in the hospital and has returned home as of yesterday, now in the care of hospice. Unfortunately, it is hard for him to eat, drink, or even talk. Close friends are with him and working around the clock to keep him comfortable.

    02/24/21 - South Metro Firefighters IAFF LOCAL 2086
    Shortly before 3 p.m. on Wednesday, February 24th,Local members were dispatched to a smoke investigation at the Courtyard by Marriott near I-25 and County Line Road. The response was upgraded to a working commercial structure fire when crews confirmed there was smoke and fire in the ceiling of the swimming pool room.
    Kalispell Ct. House Fire
    02/24/21 - South Metro Firefighters IAFF LOCAL 2086
    At 4:58 p.m. on Monday, February 22nd, Local members along with members from Local 1209 responded to a reported garage fire at 5781 S. Kalispell Court in Centennial. As units were responding, a large plume of black smoke was visible from miles away.

    Powhaton Road Brush Fire
    02/21/21 - South Metro Firefighters IAFF LOCAL 2086
    At 3:24 p.m. on Saturday, February 20th, Local 2086 and 1290 members responded to a grass fire along the west side of Powhaton Road just north of County Line Road. Gusty winds from the approaching cold front were pushing the fire south and west toward homes. Members began initial fire attack from the road while additional units were sent into the neighborhood for structure protection, if needed.
    Engineer John Wood Sr. Memorial

    On Saturday morning, February 20th, Local members honored the memory of Engineer John Wood Sr. On February 20, 1981 Engineer Wood was operating a brush truck on the scene of a large wildland fire east of Pine Drive and north of Mainstreet near Parker when he tragically suffered a heart attack and died.
    Kit Carson Dr. Garage Fire
    02/19/21 - South Metro Firefighters IAFF LOCAL 2086
    At 1:33 a.m. on Monday, February 15, 2021, Local members responded to a report of smoke inside the home at 7780 S. Kit Carson Dr. in Centennial. The family safely evacuated without injuries. Members from first arriving Engine 15 reported smoke showing from the eaves and declared a working fire, prompting the dispatch of additional units.
    Dallas St. Structure Fire
    02/19/21 - South Metro Firefighters IAFF LOCAL 2086
    At 7:05 p.m. on Sunday, February 14, 2021, Members from Engine 31 were dispatched to a fire alarm activation at 5450 S. Dallas Street. Greenwood Village Police Officers were first to arrive on scene and they encountered heavy smoke inside the residence. The response was upgraded to a working structure fire and additional SMFR resources were dispatched.
    Newton St. Structure Fire
    02/19/21 - South Metro Firefighters IAFF LOCAL 2086
    At 2:25 p.m. on Saturday, February 13, 2021, Local members responded to several 911 calls reporting at house on fire at 5112 S. Newton Street in Littleton. First arriving Engine and Medic 11 found a large volume of smoke and fire visible from the front and rear of the home. Members advanced an attack hose line to control the flames and conducted a 360 degree walk around.
    Southridge Way Structure Fire
    02/19/21 - South Metro Firefighters IAFF LOCAL 2086
    At 2:17 p.m. on Thursday, February 11, 2021, Local members responded to several reports of a house fire at 6 Southridge Way in Littleton. First arriving Battalion 2 found a small single-story home with the attached garage fully engulfed. Members deployed an attack hose line and used it to prevent any additional fire damage to the living area.

    02/16/21 - Denver Firefighters Local 858
    National Fire Fighter Ski Races February 22-25, 2021 in Steamboat Springs National Firefighter Ski Races is raising money for burn injured firefighters. We’re selling chances to win a snowboard, a Colorado Firehose flag, a metal & wood American flag and a beautiful red fire helmet (pic doesn’t have the cool shield on it yet). Chances to win are $10 each or 3 for $25.

    Cherry Creek High School Structure Fire
    02/09/21 - South Metro Firefighters IAFF LOCAL 2086
    At 2:35 p.m. on Tuesday, February 9, 2021, Local members responded to a fire at Cherry Creek High School. Security reported a fire alarm activation and found flames inside a bathroom in the East Building. When members arrived, they found students evacuated, positioned apparatus on 3 sides of the building, secured water supplies from hydrants and pulled attack hose lines to the doors.
    Cherry Creek State Park Interface Brush Fire
    02/08/21 - South Metro Firefighters IAFF LOCAL 2086
    On Sunday February 7, 2021 at around 4:10 p.m. Local members responded to a brush fire on the east side of the Cherry Creek State Park reservoir in Unincorporated Arapahoe County. When members arrived on scene, they found a brush fire with large flame lengths moving quickly as it was being fueled by high wind speeds and dry conditions.
    Norfolk St. Car vs House
    02/08/21 - South Metro Firefighters IAFF LOCAL 2086
    At 1:58 p.m. on Thursday February 2, 2021, Local members responded to a vehicle collision involving a structure at 8127 S. Norfolk Street in unincorporated Arapahoe County. When members arrived, they found a sedan embedded in the corner of the garage and a free-flowing natural gas leak from the damaged meter.

    Tack Drive Structure Fire
    02/02/21 - South Metro Firefighters IAFF LOCAL 2086
    Just before 5 a.m. on Tuesday February 2, 2021, Local members responded to a house fire on Tack Drive in Parker. A person driving by called 911 to report grey smoke in the area while traveling on Motsenbocker Road. Parker Police officers responded as well and confirmed active fire on the backside of a house on Tack Dr.
    Sante Fe Drive MVA Rollover
    02/01/21 - South Metro Firefighters IAFF LOCAL 2086
    At 11:44 a.m. on Friday, January 29, 2021, Local members responded to multiple reports of a rollover accident involving a semi on Santa Fe Drive just north of C470. Passing motorists stopped to check on the driver and assisted them out of the cab. Battalion Chief 1 found a dump truck tipped over in the northbound lanes of Santa Fe with a load of asphalt on the ground.
