    DFD Peer Support Suicide Prevention Training - Session 1 TOMORROW

Lets see if this works.  Session 1 - Signs and Support: This session will cover why Veterans are at an increased risk for suicide, and show you the basic skills needed to intervene with veteran peers who are at risk.  The session is 9/16/2020 and is scheduled to go from 9am to 10:30am I hope that you will be able to attend a class.

    Brothers and Sisters; On Monday, September 7, the B-Shift was tasked with a request from The Cameron Peak Fire to assist with a strike team due to the exponential growth of the fire near Ft. Collins. It was Labor Day, where all support staff is off, and hoping to enjoy time with friends and family. Our Denver Fire Fighters responded amazingly.
    Espana St. Vehicle into House
    09/09/20 - South Metro Firefighters IAFF LOCAL 2086
    On Tuesday Sept. 8, 2020 at 5:35 p.m., Local members responded to a MVA into a house call on S. Espana St. in Unincorporated Arapahoe County. When members arrived on scene, they found a car had gone across a stretch of grass, through a fence and crashed into the backside of a home. The homeowner was home at the time, but was not injured. The driver inside the car was trapped from the impact.
    Eagle Street RV Fire
    09/09/20 - South Metro Firefighters IAFF LOCAL 2086
    At 3:49 p.m. on Saturday, September 5th, Local members responded to a fire at the RV Vault storage lot, located at 7354 S. Eagle St. in Centennial. A large plume of smoke was visible from miles away as units responded, prompting a call for additional resources. Upon arrival, members found an RV engulfed with flames and spreading to a camping trailer.

    The Union Meetings will be  today at 8:30 am . There will be an informational session to start the meeting. Once the Informational Session will ends, regular business will take place offline.     Nominations - Collective Bargaining Committee
    09/02/20 - Denver Firefighters Local 858
    Reminder, nominations for the NEXT Collective Bargaining Committee will be held at the regular September meetings. These nominations will carry through the end of new business on the first day of the October Union Meeting. Nominations will close during the October meeting on Wednesday, October 7, 2020.  Nominees will be given a chance to speak at both October Union Meetings.

Collective Bargaining Committee Meeting on Tuesday Union Meeting on Wednesday at 7 pm Union Meeting on Thursday at 8:30 am  Virtual MDA  The Collective Bargaining Committee will begin analyzing the more than 500 responses received from the Survey. They will also have a meeting with the City that afternoon to talk about the upcoming negotiations.

    This year we are still conducting our annual MDA Fill the BOOT drive. you may or may not see us out and about due to Social Distancing.     Cherry Creek State Park Brush Fire
    08/13/20 - South Metro Firefighters IAFF LOCAL 2086
    At 2:54 p.m. on Thursday, August 13, 2020, Local members responded to a small brush fire near the shooting range at Cherry Creek State Park. As members were responding smoke was already visible from a distance and more than an acre was burning.
    Deertrail Drive Structure Fire
    08/13/20 - South Metro Firefighters IAFF LOCAL 2086
    At 2:07 p.m. on Thursday, August 13, 2020, Local members responded to numerous 911 reports of a house fire in the 7600 block of Deertrail Drive in Douglas County. A large plume of black smoke was already visible for miles as emergency personnel responded. First arriving Battalion Chief 4 found a 2-car detached garage fully engulfed with flames, spreading to an adjacent home, trees and grass.
    Castle Pines Wildland Interface Fire
    08/13/20 - South Metro Firefighters IAFF LOCAL 2086
    On Wednesday August 12, 2020, Local members responded to a vegetation fire near the Southbound Castle Pines on ramp along Interstate 25. Multiple callers stated the fire was growing quickly, spreading to the west up the hill and threatening an apartment complex nearby. Battalion Chief 4 upgraded the incident to a large brush fire and wildland interface fire, adding more units to the call.
    Lakeside Ct. Wildland Interface Fire
    08/12/20 - South Metro Firefighters IAFF LOCAL 2086
    Just before 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday August 11, 2020, Local 2086 and 1309 members responded to a vegetation fire off of Lakeside Ct. in Unincorporated Douglas County. With dry conditions and high wind speeds, the fire began spreading quickly, threatening properties and homes nearby.
    Panorama Ct. Brush Fire
    08/12/20 - South Metro Firefighters IAFF LOCAL 2086
    At 8:56 a.m. on Wednesday August 5, 2020, Local members responded to numerous reports of a small fire burning in grass between Parker Hills Ct. and Panorama Ct. in Douglas County. Upon arrival Battalion Chief 4 found approximately half an acre involved with flames spreading and structures nearby.
    War Bonnet Trail Brush Fire
    08/12/20 - South Metro Firefighters IAFF LOCAL 2086
    At 4:39 p.m. on Saturday August 1, 2020, Local members responded to numerous reports of a vegetation fire burning between War Bonnet Trail and Bowstring Trail in Douglas County. When members arrived, they found approximately 1-acre burning in a mix of grass, brush and trees, being pushed by gusty winds through a ravine to the west.

    Union Meeting and Informational Session Today

    We will be having an in-person Union Meeting this morning,  Thursday, August 6th, at 8:30 am , at the Event Center at the Union Office, 12 Lakeside Lane, Denver, CO 80212.  We will continue to follow the current restrictions, limiting us to 49 members per meeting due to the Event Center size.
