    06/12/21 - South Metro Firefighters IAFF LOCAL 2086
    June 11, 2021 - 5:13 a.m. SMFR's 9-1-1 Dispatch Center received a call for a fire that was in the backyard of a residence near Lincoln Ave and Lone Tree Parkway. When District Chief 1 arrived on scene, he confirmed that it was a working structure fire viewing fire both on the primary home and extending into a secondary home.

    Denver Firefighter’s Scholarship Fund 2021 Denver Fire Scholarship – DEADLINE JULY 1 The Denver Fire Department Foundation and Burg Simpson are pleased to announce the 2021 Denver Fire Scholarship. We will award one $1,500 scholarship to a qualifying student who is the child of an active or retired Denver firefighter.

    June 7, 2021 – Just before noon, on Monday, Local members responded to reports of smoke showing in the area of South Platte Canyon Road and West Mineral Avenue. BC1 confirmed seeing the smoke plume and upgraded the response to a confirmed structure fire.

    05/31/21 - South Metro Firefighters IAFF LOCAL 2086
    At 10:59 a.m. on Saturday May 29, 2021, Local members responded to several reports of a house fire in the 6600 block of South Waco Way in Arapahoe County. Members observed a plume of smoke in the air while responding and upon arrival they found a shed fire extending into the garage and adjacent home.

    Aberdeen St. Structure Fire
    05/22/21 - South Metro Firefighters IAFF LOCAL 2086
    At 8:58 a.m. on Saturday May 22, 2021, a 911 caller reported brown smoke coming from the front door of a home under construction at 6092 S. Aberdeen St. in Littleton. When Local members arrived, light smoke was visible, and Firefighters advanced a hose line inside to search for the fire and possible victims.

    05/21/21 - Denver Firefighters Local 858
    On November 27th, 2020, Dave Novotny passed away from non-Hodgkin’s lymphoma, a Line of Duty Illness. The memorial for Dave will be held at 3:30 pm on Saturday, May 22nd, 2021, at the Colorado Professional Fire Fighters Event Center, 12 Lakeside Lane, Denver, Colorado 80212. Seating will begin at 3:00 pm. Attire will be Class A uniform with shrouded badges for the day of the memorial.
    Kent Place HazMat Investigation

    May 17, 2021 - Shortly after 8 p.m., Local members were dispatched to a residence to investigate an unknown substance near Kent Place and Shoreham Circle in Castle Pines. The homeowner received a package and did not recognize its contents. The residence was evacuated and Haz-Mat38 and Decon17 were called along with first due units.

    May 13, 2021 – At 4 p.m., Local members celebrated John Schroer’s 22 years of dedicated service. Alongside the SMFR's Honor Guard and Pipes and Drums, family members and friends from his career gathered to reminisce. He credited his wife, Linda, for being his support.
    Centennial Mid Air Plane Collision
    05/16/21 - South Metro Firefighters IAFF LOCAL 2086
    At 10:24 a.m. on Wednesday May 12, 2021, Local members were alerted by the Centennial Airport Control Tower to a plane crash south of Cherry Creek Reservoir in Arapahoe County. Moments later 911 callers reported a midair collision and small plane down in a field just south of Belleview Avenue and west of Peoria Street.
    Blackhawk St. Multi Family Structure Fire

    In the afternoon of May 9, 2021, Members from Engine 42 was dispatched to a fire alarm at the Dove Valley Apartment near S. Potomac Road and E. Broncos Parkway in Arapahoe County. Upon arrival, members found smoke conditions in the apartment and upgraded the response to a working multi-family structure fire.

    To All Members of Local 858; The City and County of Denver announced the suspension of the 2021 furlough days for Career Service employees. In preparation for Collective Bargaining negotiations, we’ve had several discussions regarding the funds coming from the American Recovery and Rescue Act, and the recovery of the Denver Economy.
    Cherry Creek State Park Water Rescue/Recovery
    05/03/21 - South Metro Firefighters IAFF LOCAL 2086
    Just before noon on Sunday, May 2, 2021 SMFR received calls for a kayaker who fell into the water at Cherry Creek State Park. Within minutes Local members arrived and were able to obtain multiple reports of the person’s last known location. Members from the Dive team started an extensive shore-based search fighting through near-zero underwater visibility and incoming storms.

    This afternoon, April 28th, Local 2086 and 1309 members responded to a kitchen fire in a home on South Depew Street in Jefferson County. Members from first arriving Engine 16 found smoke venting from the roof, upgraded the response to a working structure fire and pulled an initial attack line.

    Hampden Ave MVA/HazMat
    04/25/21 - South Metro Firefighters IAFF LOCAL 2086
    Around 1 p.m. on Thursday, April 22, 2021, Local members responded to a traffic collision involving hazardous materials in the eastbound lanes of Hampden Avenue just west of Dahlia Street in Cherry Hills Village. 3 vehicles were involved including a passenger car that overturned as well as a commercial landscaping truck that tipped over.

    Willow Street Structure Fire
    04/20/21 - South Metro Firefighters IAFF LOCAL 2086
    At 1:53 a.m. on Tuesday, April 20, 2021, Local members responded to a report of smoke inside a home at 6944 S. Willow Street in Centennial. Members from first arriving Engine 33 observed nothing showing from the exterior on arrival but discovered smoke and heat inside the first floor. The incident was upgraded to a working structure fire and additional resources were dispatched.
    E. Illif Ave. Multi-Family Structure Fire
    04/13/21 - South Metro Firefighters IAFF LOCAL 2086
    At 8:45 p.m. on Friday, April 9, 2021, Local members responded to 9400 E. Iliff Avenue in Araphaoe County after an observant neighbor reported flames visible from a townhome. Members from first arriving Engine 21, Medic 21 and Medic 211 encountered a large volume of fire venting from the first floor of a two-story townhome, extending up the exterior to the roof line.

    04/13/21 - South Metro Firefighters IAFF LOCAL 2086
    April 5, 2021- At 5:19 p.m., South Metro Fire Rescue received a 911 call describing a hay fire within a barn near Forest Hill Drive and E Parker Road. A dark black smoke plume could be seen for miles.
