    C470 RV Fire
    07/15/18 - South Metro Firefighters IAFF LOCAL 2164
    At 6:30 a.m. on Sunday July 15th, Local 2086 and 2164 members responded to a RV fire in the eastbound lanes of C-470 just east of the Broadway overpass. A large... plume of black smoke was visible for miles and when crews arrived they found the RV fully engulfed with flames. Engine 16 and Tower 18 used 2 hose lines to control the flames.
    I-25 Commercial Carrier Fire
    07/12/18 - South Metro Firefighters IAFF LOCAL 2164
    Just after 5 p.m. on July 10th a semi traveling southbound on Interstate 25 between Arapahoe Road and Dry Creek Road made a hard stop in traffic; a bale of hay on the trailer came loose and made contact with an exhaust pipe. The bale of hay immediately ignited and quickly spread into the truck and stacks of hay. Thankfully the driver escaped without injuries.
    Paoli Way Structure Fire
    07/10/18 - South Metro Firefighters IAFF LOCAL 2164
    At 1:14 a.m. on Tuesday July 10th, Local 2164 members responded to a reported house fire at 17326 Paoli Way in Parker. When crews arrived, they observed a haze of smoke in the air and stretched an attack hose line to the rear of the home. A smoldering deck fire was discovered and quickly extinguished.

    Parker Road MVA
    07/07/18 - South Metro Firefighters IAFF LOCAL 2164
    At 12:09 p.m. on Friday July 6th, Local 2164 members responded to a traffic collision at South Parker Road and J Morgan Boulevard in Parker. 911 callers reported a commercial vehicle had flipped over and people were trapped. When crews arrived they found a delivery truck on its wheels after rolling over, a sedan with significant frontend damage and a large fuel spill.
    Powhaton Brush Fire
    07/06/18 - South Metro Firefighters IAFF LOCAL 2164
    Local 2164 members assisted our partners at Local 1290 with a 9 acre brush fire in Southlands on July 4th. The fire burned in open space near Orchard Road and Powhaton Road around 3 p.m. Although a neighborhood was nearby, no homes were threatened. Aurora and South Metro respond together on a regular basis along our district borders to provide the best service possible.

    07/06/18 - South Metro Firefighters IAFF LOCAL 2164
    At 2:15 pm on July 4th, Local 2086 and 2164 members were dispatched to a report of a small grass fire threatening a home at 5607 S. Curtice Street. First arriving Engine 11 sized-up a fast moving small vegetation fire in the backyard and open field behind the address with nearby structures threatened.
    Surrey Ridge Brush Fire
    07/03/18 - South Metro Firefighters IAFF LOCAL 2164
    Just before 5 p.m. on Tuesday July 2nd, Local 2164 members responded to multiple reports of a brush fire along the west side of I-25 near Surrey Ridge. When members arrived they found 3 separate fires burning along the southbound lanes, slowly spreading south and west. Members began their suppression tactics along Clydesdale Road near the highway underpass.

    Spring Creek Fire Deployment
    06/28/18 - South Metro Firefighters IAFF LOCAL 2164
    On Thursday morning June 28th, 3 members of South Metro’s Wildland Team received deployment orders for the Spring Creek Fire near Fort Garland, CO. The crew met at Firehouse 39 in Castle Pines Village, double checked the equipment on their 4x4 Type 6 Engine and saddled up with their personal gear bags.

    06/26/18 - South Metro Firefighters IAFF LOCAL 2164
    At 11:02 a.m. on Tuesday, June 26th South Metro Engine 47 was dispatched to investigate a report of smoke in the area of Tomahawk Road and Summit Ridge Road in Douglas County. A second 911 caller reported a barn on fire at the same location and additional units were dispatched.

    Hello PFA and Retiree’s, Retired Poudre Fire Authority Company Officer Art Eckdahl Passed away October 23rd 2017. Art was a career firefighter at PFA for 25 years, then moving on to become a Fire Inspector with Vista Fire Department in  Vista Ca. where he retired again.   Art was one of the founding board members that started IAFF local 1945.

    Wildcat Reserve Pkwy MVA
    06/22/18 - South Metro Firefighters IAFF LOCAL 2164
    At 07:24 a.m. on Friday, June 22nd Local 2086 and 2164 members responded to a traffic collision on Wildcat Reserve Parkway and Spearwood Drive in Highlands Ranch. 911 callers reported a semi rollover with visible smoke and people possibly trapped. When members arrived they found a damaged SUV, a cement truck on its side and a light pole down with exposed electrical wires.
    Fox Hunt Circle Interface Fire

    At 12:23 p.m. on Sunday, June 17th Local 2086 members responded to several reports of a small brush fire in the open space northeast of Northridge Elementary School in Highlands Ranch. First arriving Brush 18 found a quarter acre grass fire moving at a slow to moderate rate of spread uphill and toward homes on Fox Hunt Circle.

    We want to thank everyone for a successful 2018 EMS Open House. The event took place June 16th at Station 63 and hundreds of attendees learned how SMFR and our various community partners keep us safe. Attendees also enjoyed numerous demonstrations from Arapahoe County Sheriff’s K9 units, Bomb Squad, and Local 2164 members ended the day with an extrication demo.

    At 3:54 p.m. on Friday, June 15th Local 2164 members responded to a residential structure fire at 19061 E. Powers Place in Centennial. First arriving Engine 63 found smoke showing from the attached garage and advanced an attack line inside.
    Pagosa Way Structure Fire
    06/15/18 - South Metro Firefighters IAFF LOCAL 2164
    At 12:55 p.m. on Friday, June 15th Local 2164 members responded to a residential structure fire at 5817 S. Pagosa Way in Centennial. Engine 62 reported smoke in the air while responding and upon arrival they found flames visible from 1st and 2nd floors extending into the eaves. Attack lines were advanced inside to each level and the fire was quickly controlled.

    Bemis Circle Structure Fire
    06/09/18 - South Metro Firefighters IAFF LOCAL 2164
    At 4:27 p.m. on Friday Jun 8th, Local 2086 and 2164 members responded to numerous 911 reports of a structure fire near West Mineral Avenue and West Long Avenue. A large plume of black smoke was already visible for miles as crews were responding. First arriving Ladder 12 found two single family homes both heavily involved with fire at 7951 and 7961 South Bemis Circle.
    Feather Grass Structure Fire
    06/09/18 - South Metro Firefighters IAFF LOCAL 2164
    At 3:43 p.m. on Friday June 8th, Local 2164 members responded to a house fire 8384 Feather Grass Court in Douglas County. Neighbors called 911 after seeing heavy black smoke and flames coming from the back of the home. First arriving Engine 42 and Medic 42 found heavy fire on the rear of the house extending into the attic of the 1st and 2nd floors.
    Twenty Mile Road Multi Family Structure Fire
    06/08/18 - South Metro Firefighters IAFF LOCAL 2164
    At 06:39 on Friday June, 8th  Local 2164 members responded to an apartment building on fire at 11038 Twenty Mile Road. First arriving members from Station 41 found a large 3-story building under construction with smoke coming from 3 sides of the top floor and attic. All of the workers safely evacuated without injuries and were accounted for.
    Spring Gulch Brush Fire

    June 5th at 19:04 Local 2164 members were dispatched to assist Local 2086 members with a brush fire.  Crews made fast work of the incident but this serves a good reminder that vegetation remains extremely dry. https://www.southmetro.
    Contour 39 HazMat
    06/05/18 - South Metro Firefighters IAFF LOCAL 2164
    June 4, 2018 – At 8:17 p.m., Crews were dispatched to a fire alarm activation in the Contour 39 apartment complex, near Yosemite and Kimmer Dr. As crews investigated, their 4-Gas meter activated alerting crews to increased levels of an unknown chemical. Haz-mat 38 was dispatched and crews evacuated nearby residences as a precaution.
