    Flat Acres Farm Haunted House and Hay Field Fire
    10/25/21 - South Metro Firefighters IAFF LOCAL 2086
    At 01:22 a.m. on Monday, October, 25th Local members responded to a fire Flat Acre Farms, located at 11321 Dransfeldt Road in Douglas County. Upon arrival, members found a haunted house and large area of hay bales engulfed in flames. Members and tractor operators have contained and mostly extinguished the fire, but the hay will continue to smolder this morning.

    Kittredge Circle Garage Fire
    10/04/21 - South Metro Firefighters IAFF LOCAL 2086
    October 4, 2021, 2:00 a.m.- Multiple calls were received by South Metro Fire Rescue's Dispatch Center that black smoke was visible coming from a home's garage near S.Jordan Road and S. Broncos Pkwy. Homeowners had working smoke detectors and did the right thing by evacuating the home and keeping doors closed as they exited. This helped to contain the fire and smoke in the garage.

    October 3, 2021 - At 6:28 p.m., Local members responded to reports of black smoke coming from an apartment near Market Street and Jordan in Parker. A neighbor spotted the smoke and heard a smoke alarm sounding from the home. Members from Tower 45 arrived on the scene and confirmed the incident was a working multi-family structure fire and pulled line for an offensive fire attack.

    September 29, 2021 - Retirees from South Metro Fire Rescue and its legacy fire departments enjoyed a delicious lunch together at Station 35. Sharing stories and memories, it was easy to see that one of SMFR’s strengths comes from its rich history and the legacies of amazing firefighters.

    The Family, Lindsey, and Denver Firefighters Local 858 invites you to attend a reception following Brother Billingsley’s Funeral. The reception will begin at 4 pm at the Colorado Professional Firefighters Event Center located at 12 Lakeside Lane, Denver, CO 80212. Food and Drink will be provided. Members may not wear department uniforms to the reception. Please see the attached parking map for overflow parking details.
    Honor Watch for Technician Jeff Billingsley - Additional Members Needed

    Brother and Sisters,  Honor Watch is a longstanding and solemn tradition for line-of-duty deaths in the fire service. At least two other firefighters will remain with the fallen firefighter's body around the clock on "honor watch" in the days leading up to the funeral. Firefighters are always together, and we never leave anyone behind.

    Brother Billingsley has two dogs that need a forever home. Murphy( on the left of the photo is 4 years old) and Barnes(on the right side of the photo is 6 years old). The family wishes to keep these dogs together as they search for a new home.

    Procession Route this evening for Brother Billingsley as he is transported to the Denver Coroners Office:  Leave UC Health University Hospital Ambulance Bay on 17th Avenue to Peoria Street and heading south to 6th Ave.  West on 6th Ave to Quebec St.  North on Quebec St to 8th Ave. West on 8th Ave to Kalamath St.  South on Kalamath Street to 3rd Ave.
    Brother Jeff Billingsley

    It is with a heavy heart to report that Brother Jeff Billingsley has passed away this afternoon in an apparent Line of Duty Death. Jeff was a Technician assigned to Engine-35 B-shift and was in his 19th year on the job. Jeff just recently turned 42 years old and is a friend to many on our department. He is also one of the founding members of the Denver Fire Fighters Pipes and Drums Band. As this letter is being written, Jeff is surrounded by his crew at University Hospital in Aurora.

    The United States Honor Flag travels the country honoring America’s fallen heroes, it arrived in Colorado Wednesday and will stay with fallen Firefighter Paramedic Tony Palato through his memorial service next week.

    Just after 2 p.m. on Thursday, September 16, 2021, SMFR received numerous reports of flames and smoke visible from a tanker truck on southbound I-25 north of Castle Pines Parkway. When local members arrived, they found the rear brake assembly on the tractor engulfed in flames.

    At 9:32 a.m. on Wednesday, September 15, 2021, 911 callers reported a sparking electrical transformer starting brush fire on the southwest corner of Castle Pines Parkway and I-25 in the City of Castle Pines. When local members arrived, they found roughly half an acre of mixed vegetation involved, spreading to the north and south.
