    I-25 MVA with Haz-Mat
    04/20/18 - South Metro Firefighters IAFF LOCAL 2164
    At 12:44 on Friday Engine 36, Medic 36 and Engine 44 responded to a vehicle accident on the shoulder of northbound I-25, one mile south of Ridgegate Parkway. A box truck collided with the concrete barrier, which caused a 110-gallon diesel tank in the cargo area to rupture and leak.
    Richfield House Fire
    04/20/18 - South Metro Firefighters IAFF LOCAL 2164
    At 10:31 on Friday morning South Metro Engine 42 was dispatched to a fire alarm activation reported by an alarm company. Upon arrival at 6354 S. Richfield Street, no problems were evident from the street. As Local 2164 members knocked on the front door and conducted a 360-degree walk around the home, smoke was seen coming from vents along the basement.

    Cary Johnson from the Jeffco D/A's office spoke at our April luncheon and distributed a flyer with a lot of good information about ways to recognize, avoid and report various types of fraud. We have reprinted a couple of check lists you may find helpful as well as some resource numbers to call if you feel you have been a victim of some type of fraud.
    Highway 67 Brush Fire
    04/18/18 - South Metro Firefighters IAFF LOCAL 2164
    Just after 10:00 a.m. on Tuesday, April 17, 2018, Local 2164 members were requested for an automatic aid wildland fire on the north side of Highway 67 west of Rampart Range Road in the Pike National Forest. With a Red Flag and High Wind Warning in effect and 60 mph wind gusts being observed; a pre-evacuation area was established from Sugar Creek to Sedalia and additional resources were called.
    Foxtail Drive Fire
    04/17/18 - South Metro Firefighters IAFF LOCAL 2164
    Just after 10 a.m. on Tuesday April 17th, Local 2164 members assisted Castle Rock Fire Rescue with a wind driven structure fire in the 4800 block of N. Foxtail Drive. Simultaneous wildland fires near Larkspur and Sedalia were also challenging firefighters from all Douglas County fire districts, including South Metro.

    04/14/18 - South Metro Firefighters IAFF LOCAL 2164
    At around 11:30 April 10th, Local 2164 members from Station 41 extinguished this diesel pick up truck fire on Cottontail Lane before it could spread to the dry grass. No one was injured and the cause is under investigation. http://www.southmetro.

    04/13/18 - South Metro Firefighters IAFF LOCAL 2164
    At 1:45 p.m. on Thursday April 12th, Local 2164 members responded to a hazardous materials incident at 5340 S. Quebec Street in Greenwood Village. 3 Employees in one of the offices experienced eye and throat irritation after being exposed to an unknown powder and they dialed 911. 13 units responded to the scene including the SMFR Haz-Mat and Decontamination apparatus.

    Join Adams County Professional Firefighters Local 2403 along with Bruz Beers on April 21st from 6pm -11pm for the tapping of SUPER STACHE FIREHOUSE IPA. Proceeds from beer sales and events go to assist the family of Firefighter Brett Anderson. A food truck will be on hand, along with Bruz Beers other craft beers.     At 2:16 p.m. on Sunday, April 8th multiple 911 callers reported a small vegetation fire burning along the Cherry Creek just south of the Cottonwood Bridge in Parker. The first member from Local 2164 arrived on scene 3 minutes later and discovered a fast moving grass fire spreading into the trees with no structures threatened.

    On March 29th, 2018 Local 2164 members reunited with a patient they treated after a serious motor vehicle accident.  “It’s the best part of the job,” said Local 2164 members as they reunited with Ms. Koetter at Parker Adventist Hospital this morning.

They will be accepting your paper for onsite shredding between the hours of 11 a.m. - 1 p.m. You can bring as much as you want as there is no fee for extra boxes as many places charge extra for more than 1 box of paper.

The CO FF Lax Club and IFCF are participating in the 2018 LaCROSSe Out Cancer Night hosted by the Colorado Mammoth on April 14 at the Pepsi Center.

    At 04:29 a.m. on Monday March 26th, South Metro Battalion Chief 61, Engine 61 and Engine 62 were dispatched to a fire alarm activation at 8824 E. Florida Avenue in Arapahoe County. Upon arrival, Engine 61 reported smoke showing from the 2nd floor of the large, X-shaped, occupied apartment building and a full 1st Alarm was dispatched.

    03/25/18 - South Metro Firefighters IAFF LOCAL 2164
    At 1:34 p.m. on Sunday March 25th, South Metro Fire Rescue received multiple 911 calls reporting both a building and brush on fire at 7555 E. Harvard Avenue in Arapahoe County. First arriving Local 2164 members from Station 61 found a vegetation fire along the Highline Canal that was threatening a nearby apartment building.

    03/20/18 - South Metro Firefighters IAFF LOCAL 2164
    Only 30 minutes after leaving the house fire on South Chester Circle late Sunday night, South Metro Battalion Chief 61, Engine 61, Medic 61, Medic 611, Tower 32 and Aurora Fire Rescue Battalion 2 & Engine 11 were among multiple units that responded to another house in the 8000 block of East Vassar Avenue.

    03/20/18 - South Metro Firefighters IAFF LOCAL 2164
    Just before 9 p.m. on Sunday, Local 2164 members responded to a house fire at 1873 South Chester Circle. First arriving crews encountered dangerous electrical arcing from a transformer and overhead power lines connected to the house. Firefighters were unable to safely operate under the lines until Xcel could de-energize them, so access was made through the backyard fence to fight the fire.
    Country Club Villa Apartment Fire
    03/20/18 - South Metro Firefighters IAFF LOCAL 2164
    On March 17th, 2018 South Metro Fire Rescue was dispatched to a reported structure fire at the Country Club Villa Apartments, 8823 E. Florida Avenue. Firefighters from Station 61 arrived on scene within minutes and dealt with the situation quickly. One man was examined at the scene, however, no serious injuries were reported.

    03/20/18 - Denver Firefighters Local 858
    Services for  Retired Assistant Chief Frank Quintana will be on Friday, April 6th at 11:30 at Mt. Olivet, 12801 W. 44th Ave., with interment immediately following. There will be a reception after at St. Joan of Arc's Catholic Church, 12735 W. 58th Ave. The family requests donations to the Local 858 Charitable Foundation in lieu of flowers.
    Campden Place Fire
    03/16/18 - South Metro Firefighters IAFF LOCAL 2164
    At 5 p.m. on Friday afternoon Local 2164 and 2086 members responded to a residential structure fire on Campden Place in Castle Pines. Initially there was no smoke visible on arrival, and then a working fire was discovered on the first floor burning through the exterior wall. Firefighters advanced attack lines inside and quickly controlled the fire.

    Tomorrow is the big day, like Christmas for the Irish and wanna be Irish.  If you would like to meet and march in the parade, meet us in Coors Field Lot A between 8:30-9am and look for the 858 Anitque rig and DFD Rigs.  If you are a PROBY come on out, show in force, let's make the DFD look good, remeber to wear your Class A with hat.
