Colorado Professional Fire Fighters,
Firefighters around the state and across the country know the toll that sleep deprivation takes on our health, performance, and long-term well-being. From increased risk of serious illness to impacts on decision-making on the fireground, the issue is real and it is urgent!
That is why the work being led by Battalion Chief Mike Binney from IAFF Local 1309, West Metro Professional Fire Fighters, is so important. His efforts to bring awareness, research, and real solutions to firefighter sleep health are helping move our profession forward.
At this year’s IAFF Strive for Excellence Summit, that work was recognized in a big way. Chief Binney received national recognition from IAFF General President Ed Kelly and the International Association of Fire Fighters.
This is what leadership looks like. Chief identified a problem, backed it with data, and is fighting for meaningful change that protects our members. Please join us in congratulating Battalion Chief and Local 1309 member, Mike Binney, for leading the way on an issue that affects every firefighter.
