URGENT FIRE FIGHTER HELP NEEDED NOW!!!
For years the Colorado Professional Fire Fighters have worked to pass collective bargaining in Colorado. We have strived to give every member a voice in their safety and their profession. This year we are close to making that dream a reality for fire fighters in our great state and we have only one hurdle to overcome. We have to have Governor Ritter sign the bill.
SB 180 passed the House and the Senate and only needs the signature of the Governor. The Governor made campaign promises to us that he would support fire fighter collective bargaining. That promise earned our support and fire fighters across the state worked hard to elect him. Unfortunately the Governor is threatening to not sign the bill and we have to remind him to be a man of his word and honor.
We ask that you send this quick email to Governor Ritter asking him to keep his promises. He must understand the importance of fire fighters being able to have a voice in our safety. PLEASE EMAIL HIM NOW !!!

Message: Dear Governor Ritter, I AM WRITING TO ASK YOU TO KEEP YOUR PROMISE TO FIRE FIGHTERS AND SIGN OUR NUMBER ONE PRIORITY INTO LAW!!!! For years fire fighters have fought for a voice in protecting our safety & having input into our working conditions. We knew we could only achieve this through collective bargaining and we are very close! As you know SB 180 would give fire fighters this greatly needed voice. As the men and women who run into burning buildings and put ourselves precarious positions don't we deserve the right to discuss our safety and working conditions? This bill does not allow strikes, does not interfere with current bargaining contracts, does not include volunteers as the Colorado Municipal League would have you believe. Not signing this bill would simply continue the same old system of cronyism and group thinking that we are trying to avoid. Not signing SB 180 removes the input of those who actually put themselves at risk. In the last election the citizens of the United States voted for change. This change came in the form of Barack Obama. Whether you are Democrat or Republican the message is clear. The people are tired of the same old status quo. We are tired of being denied a voice in our government and the vote reflected that. It is time that elected officials stopped playing games. Bills like this are very important and actually affect lives. Entering a burning building is not a game! It is important to give every fire fighter the chance to have a voice. We are an important part of government and our communities. Please allow us to sit down and discuss what issues are significant to us. Please stop the intimidation. PLEASE LET THOSE TAKING THE RISKS TO HAVE INPUT IN THEIR SAFETY. When fire fighters endorsed you and worked hard to elect you, we did this because you represented change for us. PLEASE KEEP YOUR PROMISE TO US AND SIGN SB 180 INTO LAW.
